The Value-Driven Advisor: Vision. Flow. Profit.

REH Port Services provides management consulting to port operators, developers, and logistics organisations to improve terminal efficiency, optimise operational processes, and deliver successful port development and turnaround projects.

We bridge the gap between boardroom strategy and P&L impact.

Specialist Consulting

For Port and Terminal Operators

REH Port Services was established in 2025 by Rob Humby, a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience in the liner shipping and terminal operations industry.

The company collaborates with port operators, developers, and engineering partners to address complex operational and project challenges.

What We Do

REH Port Services supports both operating terminals and port development projects, helping organisations optimise processes, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen organisational performance.

Our work includes:

  • Operational performance improvement
  • Terminal development strategy
  • Design and start-up management
  • Process optimisation using Lean methodologies
  • Operational assessments and benchmarking

Our Approach

We provide independent and objective expertise, working closely with clients leadership teams to identify inefficiencies, reduce operational risk and implement practical improvements. We don't just advise; we integrate. Our approach is built on 30 years of cross-functional expertise, ensuring that every strategic shift is grounded in operational reality.

While our methodology is built as an end-to-end framework, these elements are strategically modular rather than strictly linear. We recognise that every terminal sits at a different stage of its lifecycle; therefore, our services are not "all-or-nothing" bundles. A client may already have a robust Strategic Vision but require a surgical intervention in Element 2 (Operational Flow) to resolve a specific bottleneck. Alternatively, an investor may engage us exclusively for Element 3 (Profit Realisation) to provide the high-level executive oversight and Standard Work protocols required for a successful terminal start-up or a post-acquisition turnaround. We provide the flexibility to contract for a single, targeted element or the full integrated architecture, depending on your specific P&L requirements and operational maturity.

Our Methodology: The Terminal Value Framework:

We don't just deliver reports; we engineer the structural shifts required to maximise a terminal’s lifecycle value. Our methodology is built on three distinct phases of impact:

Strategic Visioning: Architecting the Asset
  • We begin by understanding the terminal’s long-term capital investments aligned with its projected throughput.
  • Stress-test your terminal’s capacity under various scenarios.
  • Asset Lifecycle Planning: Designing a multi-year roadmap that balances immediate TEU gains with scalable infrastructure for future greenfield or brownfield expansion.
Operational Flow: Engineering the Move
  • A terminal’s profitability is won or lost at the berth and the gate. We bridge the gap between boardroom strategy and the quay.
  • Bottleneck Elimination: Using simulation to optimise yard stacking density and crane productivity, ensuring "Flow" is never compromised by congestion.
  • System Synchronisation: Overseeing the handshake between your Terminal Operating System (TOS) and assets to drive down the cost-per-move.
Profit Realisation: Standard Work-in-Process
  • Demand-to-Capacity Leveling: We synchronize your infrastructure pace of development.
  • Capital Optimisation: Identifying and eliminating "non-value-added" CAPEX within your master plan prior to any final investment decision.
  • Visual Management Systems: Implementing real-time "Dashboard Oversight" that allows terminal managers to see bottlenecks (bottleneck identification) at a glance.
  • Kaizen Governance: A continuous improvement framework for executive leadership to audit terminal performance against the P&L, ensuring margins don't "drift" after the consultants leave.
